The picturesque areas of Wareckie and Grójeckie are renowned for their excellent apples, and they also provide an excellent environment for the development of highbush blueberries, also known as Vaccinium corymbosum. The sprawling bushes, stretching across the hilly terrain, have found the perfect place to ripen, as blueberries thrive in secluded and sunny locations with soil that easily warms up. Mature fruits captivate not only with their blue color but, above all, with their juiciness.
Blueberries contain sugars, vitamin C, anthocyanins, and a good amount of pectin, which helps regulate cholesterol levels and absorbs toxic substances. They aid in treating diarrhea and have a beneficial effect on vision. American blueberries are resistant to diseases and pests, so they do not require pesticide treatments, making them a healthy and “eco-friendly” fruit.
The blueberry varieties we cultivate include some of the sweetest varieties: Duke, Bluecrop, Toro, and Chandler.
Red currant is one of the most popular fruit bushes found in our country. This unassuming fruit, which provides us with refreshment in the form of compote or jelly, is a rich source of minerals and vitamins, including vitamin C and B, as well as iron and calcium. They are suitable for desserts and cakes, and they can be frozen, as this storage method helps preserve almost all of their nutritional value, allowing us to enjoy their flavor throughout the year. They are also great for making preserves and jams.
Red currants have significant health benefits. They support the immune system and have a positive impact on the appearance of the skin. Their high content of zinc and sulfur strengthens hair and nails, as well as alleviates acne symptoms.
In our offering, we have the Dutch variety of red currant called Rovada, characterized by large, slightly acidic fruits gathered in long clusters.
Apples are the flagship fruit product of the Warka and Grójec regions. The fruits from this region are appreciated worldwide for their exceptional taste, color, and aroma, which they owe to the climatic and soil conditions of their origin. The unique microclimate in these areas greatly influences the distinctive and flavorful taste of the apples.
The apple varieties we offer include:
Jonagored – They reach harvesting maturity at the end of September and reach their consumption maturity around mid-November. The apples have a greenish-yellow or yellow, smooth, and slightly waxy skin of medium thickness. They are medium to large, conical, slightly ribbed near the calyx. The flesh is yellowish, moderately firm, crisp, juicy, with a pleasant aroma, and a sweet-tart taste.
Golden – When this variety reaches its consumption maturity, it develops a unique flavor and aroma. The well-balanced and favorable ratio of sugars to acids is a significant advantage of this variety. The flesh is slightly creamy, crunchy, and firm. The apples are aromatic and juicy. They are recommended for direct consumption as dessert apples and for making preserves.
Mutsu – One of the few remaining varieties with hard green fruits and an interesting flavor, which is the hallmark of this variety. It is characterized by very large, round or round-conical fruits with a slightly irregular shape and delicate ribbing near the calyx. The skin is smooth and greenish, and the fruits left on the tree turn golden. The creamy flesh has a greenish hue, is firm, juicy, and tasty.
Champion – The apples of this variety are round-conical with slight ribbing near the calyx. They have a dry, smooth, greenish-yellow or yellow skin. The apples are large or medium-sized. The tasty flesh is greenish-white with a creamy shade, juicy, slightly aromatic, sweet, and delicately tart.
Gloster – The apples of this variety have a tart and refreshing taste and a firm flesh. They are large, conical, ribbed, green with abundant dark red blush. Gloster apples are primarily used for cooking.
Idared – The fruits of the ‘Idared’ variety are medium-sized, round, slightly flattened near the stem and calyx, and quite heavy. The skin is strong, thick, shiny, with a pale yellow color and a greenish hue. The fruit flesh is white, with a slight creamy tint, fine-grained, juicy, firm, and slightly tart, with a delicious taste.
Boiken – It is characterized by medium-sized, round to slightly conical-shaped fruits. The skin is covered with a waxy coating. As they ripen, they turn a pale yellow color. The flesh is firm, white, dense, and tart, while the seeds are ovate and thick. Boiken apples are perfect for preparing preserves, such as compotes and marmalades.
Cherries are fruits known as “bird cherries”. They resemble cherries in appearance but are much sweeter. Depending on the variety, cherries can start to ripen at the end of June, in July, and continue until August. Due to their delicious taste, nutritional value, and health benefits, cherries are currently one of the most popular fruits of summer. Since they appear on trees only for a short period during the summer and are incredibly tasty and valuable fruits, it is worth enjoying them not only during that time. Therefore, it is also worth preserving their flavor in jars, even until winter, as they serve as an addition to many dishes and beverages. The burgundy or red cherries are full of water (approximately 80%) and very sweet, making them excellent for garnishing many dishes and desserts, especially for culinary processing. It is impossible to list all the dishes in which cherries play a leading role. During the summer, they are primarily used for preserves, including alcohol. They also serve as a base for meat sauces.
Cherries are an excellent source of minerals and vitamins. The wealth of minerals such as potassium, calcium, iron, iodine, and vitamins from the A, C, and B groups, including B5, positively affects the regulation of internal organs, thyroid function, and joints. They effectively combat free radicals and support arthritis treatment.
In our offer, we have the Canadian variety of cherries called Summit, which is characterized by really large fruits that are suitable for many purposes, whether for desserts or processing.
